Release Date: July 2, 2021 Genre: Rock Label: Independent Washington, D.C.'s five-piece rock band One Way Out is back with their third single of the year, "Candy." The new single follows "Black Lungs (and a Broken Heart)," "Red," and their early-2020 released track "Black Walls." The brand new single is the band's first song to usher in the band's recent news of the release of their sophomore full-length studio album, The Sun, The Moon, The Truth, on August 20th. To coincide with their forthcoming album, the band has announced a small trek of late August tour dates of the east coast of the United States that additionally includes an album release show. For more information and tickets for the six-date tour, please visit the band's website here. "Candy" tells a story of a relationship that has gone sour, juxtaposing the song's writer's initial fascination with consequent distaste. It's excellently captured in the track's hook, "Oh Candy, you wrecked my mind." On the musical side of the tune, the song blends the band's garage rock and punk influences. The track begins with a clean guitar riff that pairs well with vocalist Josh Gaba's voice. Eventually, the chorus hits hard with fuzzy, distorted guitars that deliver power chords aplenty, shining the band's punk influences. At this precise point of the song, keyboardist Ari Rubenstein's keys cut through the track like a hot knife through butter -something that just wasn't as present in the band's three previous singles.

"Candy" is just more of a taste of plenty to come from this young rock band. The single will join "Black Lungs (and a Broken Heart)," "Red," and "Black Walls" on their forthcoming album The Sun, The Moon, The Truth, out August 20th. The track once again demonstrates their widely appealing songwriting technique of blending their old and modern influences into one exciting track. Please stay in touch with One Way Out by visiting their social media in the links provided below. Stream "Candy" on all music streaming services now, and finally, if you can, attend one more of their upcoming shows later this Summer in New York, Providence, Boston, Philadelphia, Richmond, and Washington, D.C.!
