Today, Canadian singer/songwriter sensation Olivia Lunny returns with her first release of the year, ‘TIMEZONE’, available to stream globally today via Infinity & Recordings (UMG Music Canada / Virgin Music).
Olivia continues to prove why she is a pop powerhouse in ‘TIMEZONE’. This latest alt-pop track showcases her effortless versatility once again, crafting a single with hypnotizing beats wrapped with strong feelings of love. As the anthem suggests, distance may keep lovers apart, but Olivia believes that “it truly makes the heart grow fonder”.
Olivia explains: “This song was inspired by a series of events – moving to the west coast, the chaos of long-distance relationships, a FaceTime call with my dad while he was in India juggling time zones, and the studio session where the song was born with new friends I had just met from Norway. ‘TIMEZONE’ is unapologetic, carefree and makes me wanna drive along the ocean with the windows down!”
The music video for ‘TIMEZONE’, directed by Sam Leviton and produced by Jack Birchler, embodies the themes of the song, beginning with Olivia on a motorcycle on her way to a house party – cinematically shot and with a breezy attitude, the video has equal themes of escapism and intimacy.
‘TIMEZONE’ follows recent singles, the undeniably empowering ‘Vibe Check’ — which saw Olivia team up with Megan Thee Stallion and Lil Yachty collaborator, Bhad Bhabie — and ‘Wonderland’, bringing her unapologetic energy for another infectious, breezy earworm.
The Canadian pop artist delivers a dynamic breed of alt-pop, instantly infectious, but full of emotional depth. After taking up guitar and writing her first song at age 12, the Winnipeg native soon ascended to national fame, earning a Western Canadian Music Award nomination for Pop Artist of the Year when she was 17 and scoring a Top 40 hit with her 2019 single “I Got You.”
The following year, she won the Young Canadian Songwriter Award from the SOCAN Foundation, inked her label deal with Universal Music Canada/Virgin Music, and released her debut EP, To the Ones I Loved, marking her an artist to watch with standout tracks "Think of Me" and "Bedsheets." In 2021, Olivia released her debut self-titled album featuring stacked hits such as disco-pop banger "Who Could Say No" and retro-vibed fan favourite "Sad to See You Happy."
Continuing to captivate listeners with her spellbinding vocals and incredibly resonant lyrics, Olivia has collectively amassed more than 15 million global streams and garnered media support from the likes of iHeartRadio, Billboard, Official Charts, Paper, tmrw mag, Refinery29, Nylon, Pride, The Line of Best Fit, and Parade among many others.
