Manitoba Country Star Emma Peterson Releases Explosive New Country-Pop Single "Got It Back"

Widely recognized as one of Prairie Canada's most promising young Country talents, Manitoba's Emma Peterson is a soaring and powerful vocalist who delivers expertly crafted lyrics to match. Inspired by Country music's most recognized songwriters including Johnny Cash, Taylor Swift, and Martina McBride to name a few, Peterson's award-winning music is carefully designed to evoke emotions, memories, and relatability in her listeners, in the same way as those who came before her. Catching the eye of some of the leading songwriters in music today, Peterson has begun working with Dwave Thomson (Lady A, Trisha Yearwood, Lights), Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame inductee Patricia Conroy, and Tina Parol (Celine Dion, Brittney Spears, Tenille Townes). With a career that began by taking the top spot at CMT's Chevy Tailgate Contest and placing within the Top 5 in Chevy's Top 20, to being awarded the Emerging Artist of the Year award from the Manitoba Country Music Association, Peterson's career has shown no signs of slowing down. Her debut album reached #4 on iTunes Canadian Country charts and was featured on SiriusXM's Top of The Country channel. Just last year, Peterson was nominated for five Manitoba Country Music Awards, taking home two in the Interactive Artist of the Year and Album of the Year categories. This year, the rising Country artist is realizing one of her longtime dreams of performing on the Dauphin Countryfest stage, before she opens for Country stars Tim Hicks and Cory Marks this summer.

Peterson is gearing up to release a song given to her by Thomson, Conroy, and Parol titled "Got It Back" - a power Country-Pop song about regaining confidence, on Friday, June 9, 2023.

"Got It Back" marks the first time the singer-songwriter has recorded a song that was written with her as the performer in mind. The song was produced by co-writer, Dwave Tompson, with the instruments recorded in Nashville, TN. Later this summer, Peterson will be releasing a video for the single.

A gripping, confident anthem about regaining confidence after a breakup, Emma Peterson's "Got It Back" is an undeniably catchy and incredibly strong Country-Pop song. Blending acoustic and electric guitars with a driving drumbeat, "Got It Back" features Peterson's impressive vocal strength, range, and controlled delivery and fits seamlessly into today's era of anthemic, female-led Country-Pop tunes about independence, courage, and determination. Lyrically expressing the ways the artist is returning to doing all the things she didn't do while in a relationship, "Got It Back" features an explosive, emotive chorus decorated with commanding instrumentation and a hard-to-forget melody. Beyond the implied context of a romantic relationship, Peterson's latest single lends itself to being an anthem relatable for any listener who is moving on from any situation that took away a piece of themselves. Delivered by a rising Country artist in the midst of building her own confidence, "Got It Back" is infectious and empowering while feeling truthful, relevant, and current.

Hailing from a small town in Manitoba, Emma Peterson has caught the attention of numerous leading figures in the Country music scene today, landing herself under the watchful eye of the North American Country music industry. Starting her career with a $50 guitar to performing in front of thousands of fans and collaborating with Country legends, Emma Peterson is an explosive young artist in the fast lane to the top.

"'Got It Back'captures that pivotal moment when you gain your confidence back after a breakup that will make you want to roll the windows down and sing along," - Emma Peterson

More about Emma: Growing up in Winnipegosis, MB (which at last count boasts a population of about 617), Emma knows first-hand what it's like to grow up country proud. And while she may have since moved on to bigger digs, it's those fond hometown memories that continue to fuel the fire, and initially lit the spark on her country music career no matter how cheesy she thinks her origin story may sound. Always a fan of singing and performing for family for as long as she can remember, it wasn't until her sister played a certain CD on their way to Dauphin one summer that Emma truly realized what path her dreams were to take. "She wanted to listen to Taylor Swift, and she said she thought it would love it," the musician recalled, adding the pair had spent the money their parents had given them for the day on the disk. "Right then I knew I wanted to play her songs. So, not long after, we went to Walmart and bought a $50 guitar and my parents thought I was crazy." With no guitar teacher in town, Emma searched for YouTube tutorials on how to play some basic chords, and the rest is history. "I would watch those videos over and over and music really became the love of my life," she said. "I still can't imagine doing anything else.

In 2016, Emma's debut took home the top spot in MT's Chevy Tailgate Contest, resulting in one of her original songs being featured on the Chevy Top 20, while she made a name for herself as one of the Top 4 finalists in the country. Over the past few years, Emma has continued to perform at numerous venues across the province and beyond, including Dauphin's Countryfest and Niverville Fair, sharing a stage with some of the country's biggest stars, The Reklaws, Charlie Major, and Andrew Hyatt. Upcoming, Emma is opening for Jason McCoy on the "Backroads to Countryfest Tour", as well as, opening for Tim Hicks and Cory Marks this summer.

Emma was nominated for 5 awards Manitoba Country Music Association Awards 2022. She took home the award for Interactive Artist of the Year and Album of the Year.
