Alt-Pop artist, Dela Kay, has just released her highly anticipated new single, “The One,” today. This single follows the success of her debut EP, Falling Into Place, which dropped in July and introduced fans to her unique blend of heartfelt storytelling and alt-pop soundscapes. "The One" delves deep into the emotional turmoil of trying to make a relationship work, only to face heartbreak and betrayal.
Reflecting on the song’s personal themes, Dela Kay explains, "Sometimes the people we love most aren’t ready for the kind of relationship we’re looking for. We’re forced to walk away, even if it ‘hurts too much’ or even if we thought they were ‘the one.’" The song, co-written with her friend and producer Stefano Pigliapoco, captures the anguish of holding onto what could have been, while recognizing the need to let go.
Sonically, "The One" channels high energy and angst, but it's also filled with love and longing. With gritty guitar lines, driving drums, and a rock-infused bassline, the track brings the perfect balance of emotional weight and musical grit. Dela Kay’s favorite part? A stripped-down acoustic chorus that harkens back to her Nashville roots, offering an emotional break in the lyrics before the song crescendos in full force.
"The process of making this song was so therapeutic," Dela Kay shares. “I’ve come to
be in a much better place now, and it’s empowering to look back on my journey.” She
hopes this song will resonate with fans who have felt similar heartbreak, adding,
"Sometimes the best way to heal is by healing out loud." With "The One" marking
Dela Kay’s first release since her debut EP, fans can expect to see even more sides of
the rising artist as she continues to work on new music. "I’m really excited about the
new songs I’m writing," she says. "This release is just the beginning, and I’m ready to
share even more of myself with my fans through this next project." Stream "The One" now here.
