Release Date: March 15, 2024 Genre: Melodic Hardcore Label: New Damage Records

Winnipeg melodic hardcore five-piece Comeback Kid are back with a new offering, their latest EP, Trouble, via New Damage Records. The four-track EP emerges as a bold statement of resilience and evolution for the band. With a career marked by a steadfast commitment to their roots and a willingness to push boundaries, Comeback Kid continues to redefine the parameters of melodic hardcore. Recorded at Private Ears Recording in their hometown of Winnipeg and produced by John Paul Peters (Cancer Bats, Propagandhi), Trouble is a testament to the band's enduring DIY ethos and uncompromising vision.

The Trouble EP opens with the dynamic "Trouble In The Winner's Circle," a track that immediately sets the tone for the rest of the release. With its infectious hooks and driving rhythm, the song showcases a more polished and well-rounded sound for the band. Lyrically, it delves into the theme of public scrutiny and the pressure of being under constant observation, delivering its message with a blend of wit and aggression.

"Disruption" follows suit with its fast-paced rhythm and anthemic quality. The song serves as a rallying cry, urging listeners to push through adversity and embrace the challenges ahead. Influenced by early AFI, the track channels a sense of urgency and defiance, creating a powerful and energizing listening experience.

The third track, "Chompin’ At The Bit" sees the band returning to familiar territory, delivering a thrashy tune that harks back to their roots. With its infectious chorus and relentless energy, the song is a standout track that is sure to resonate with longtime fans.

Closing out the EP is "Breaking And Bruised," a brutal yet melodic hardcore tune that showcases the band's ability to blend aggression with melody seamlessly. The chanting vocals and driving rhythm create a sense of catharsis, making it a fitting conclusion to the EP.

Overall, Trouble is a testament to Comeback Kid's ability to evolve and adapt while staying true to their roots. With its infectious energy and dynamic songwriting, the EP stands as a testament to the band's enduring legacy in the world of hardcore music. For fans old and new, Trouble is a must-listen that showcases the band at the top of their game.
