Blair Gun - There Are No Rival Clones Here

Album artwork for Blair Gun's second album, There Are No Rival Clones Here.

San Diego-based post-punk band Blair Gun released their sophomore album, There Are No Rival Clones Here, on June 7th, through sonaBLAST! Records. The Band consists of Joedin Morelock on vocals and guitar, Zach Cavor as lead guitarist, Jake Richter on drums, and Alyson Valdez as bassist and backup vocals. The album has an eleven-song tracklist, which includes their recently released singles "Don’t Think" and "The Thief."

The album starts off with "Blair's Theme," an instrumental song. Filled with guitar riffs and drums. It then goes into the track, "Beat Happened," which is one of those songs you can blast in the car while driving around with the windows down.

Next is "Bug House." Halfway through the song, there is a change in tempo and it starts to slow down a bit. "Don’t Think" and "Dead Set" continue with a slower tone. The beat then picks up again with "Bitter Men." In "Across The Water," it starts off upbeat then about two minutes into the song, it slows down. This is a common theme throughout the album.

The next couple of tracks, "The Thief," "ACDC," and "Up Down" are powerhouse songs. The album closes out with the song, "Seventh Heaven," which starts off more chill without any vocals. Then halfway through, the guitar and drums pick up and the vocals come in.

The chord progressions, drum beats, and vocals combined are what make this a great album. I also got the chance to see Blair Gun perform these songs live on their tour and it sounds even more awesome live.
